1993 Corsair 3600 now $70,000! The Corsair 3600 was the only catamaran made by the trimaran specialist CORSAIR, now known as Seawind. Easy to sail and fast! Speed, acceleration and manouverability make the Corsair 3600 a delight to handle under power and sail. This cat will outsail many catamarans in the 40-44 foot range. She is strong but very light, with a powerful rig. When taking it easy under sail, speeds of 7 9kts to windward and 10kts+ reaching, are comfortably achieved. Light and strong, with clean hull lines and powerful sail plan, this catamaran is the perfect balance between safety, luxury and performance. The Corsair was certainly ahead of it's time, with vacuum bagged, foam core vinylester construction of hull, deck, bulkheads and even cabinetry. Parallax is a relatively low maintenance vessel, there is no teak on deck, the diesels are easy to work on and most mechanical and electrical systems are easily accessible. Her interior offers 6'2" headroom and excellent visibility. Over the course of 7 years, her owner has single handed her from the US, down through the Caribbean, as far as Venezuela. Parallax has taken part in 2 Caribbean 1500's, winning one by 4 days on corrected time (2nd overall actual time, 6 and a bit days). She is ideal for those who love to sail, and sail quickly, not for those who ultimately seek volume and comfort. Parallax does have a few jobs that require doing, eg. mainsail batten pocket reinforcement where it chafes on spreader, one new stanchion and a couple of saloon windows have cracks. CONCLUSION: a truly special boat. Built in Australia, followed by the SEAWIND 1160 cat, production built for the demanding conditions of the South Pacific, she is fast, safe and very comfortable.
