I had the good fortune of being an exchange student Bairnsdale Australia in my teens. This was the home town of Lock Crowther. Lock designed catamarans and trimarans that could sail! His designs owned all of the records at the local Yacht Clubs and I caught the multihull fever. Lock Crowther's career became one of the most influential of the multihull renaissance with more than 2500 of his designs built including the first Catana. Now I get to broker these amazing catamarans and a Crowther 40 Spindrift has landed at my docks. It is sleek. It is light with Klegecell closed cell vacuum bagged hulls and lightweight ply-epoxy beams, bulkheads, decks, and coachroof. The Spindrift has been repowered with Yanmar 30 hp diesels with less than 200 hours on them. It has two new daggerboards (one yet to be installed). The next owner will need to make a few repairs, replace trampolines, and give her some cosmetic TLC but what a beautiful platform. I can't wait for the seatrial. Will you be there with me?
