The forward cabin contains port and starboard V-berths or one large berth queen size+ with mahogany battens following the hull shape outboard of the bunks. There is access to the foredeck ladder through a traditional scuttle. A hanging locker and bureau provides storage space; air-conditioning controls and 12v fan provide comfort. A chain locker is located foreward of this cabin.
This state room is serviced by the foreward head, located just aft and to port. The
head featues a Corian countertop with stainless wash basin and towel rods. There is one opening port for fresh air and natural light. Storage is in louvered lockers. The shower has a Symmons safetymix control with a 6' hand shower hose. The head is a Vacuflush fresh water system connected to the 22 gal. holding tank. The floor is teak grating.
Next aft and to port is the owner's stateroom with upper and lower berths. The lower berth is oversized and can be converted to a comfortable double using the upper bunk pad and flipping down a "lip." Both these bunks are fitted with burgundy ultrasuede covers with blue ultrasuede pillow covers. Fresh air is supplied to the cabin through a 12" deck dorade, a separate reversible-opening hatch or 12v fan. Additional natural light is captured by a fixed hull port through the cabin side and a dead light in the overhead. There is ample storage in a hanging locker and bureau with four drawers. The owner's cabin is also serviced by either?the forward head or the starboard head.
Opposite this cabin is an additional passageway cabin with upper and lower berths outboard. These bunks are covered in the same materials as the port cabin. There is a portlight, an opening hatch and a large dorade vent, all providing natural light and ventilation.
This cabin is serviced by the adjacent head which is aft along the starboard side. The head features a Corian countertop with stainless wash basin and towel rods. There two opening ports for fresh air and natural light. Storage is in louvered lockers. The shower has a Symmons safetymix control with a 6' hand shower hose. Main Engine and Genset have a dedicated 8D Rolls 12V battery for starting. Main engine has a 105A Leece-Neville alternator for charging the starting battery. Using switching, any alternator can charge either battery bank. Battery banks can also be combined due to a low starting battery. Two Hubbell shore connectors provide AC power dockside; two 50A cords for extended stays or a lighter 30A cord for overnight. The AC panel has separate 50A and 30A breakers for each section. Shoreside charging is from a LaMarche Constavolt 60A charger.
Deck and Hull
ARCA is constructed of one piece solid fiberglass reinforced polyester resin, hand laid up in a female mold. Deck, deckhouse and cockpit are molded in one piece. A non-skid pattern is part of the deck mold. She has a full keel with a centerboard and attached rudder.
Beginning at the bow, Arca has the traditional Hinckley cast stainless stem iron. This fitting incorporates port and starboard fairleads and headstay attachment. Arca is equipped with a Harken MK II jib reefing and furling system Size 2. The anchor stows on a stainless bow roller. A Forespar spinnaker pole and Forespar reaching strut are located on the foredeck. A hose bib accessed through a deck plate allows anchor washdown.
All fasteners were removed and all winch base boltholes were TIG welded, filled, faired, tapped and repainted in Awlgrip off-white. All fasteners were coated in Tef-gel and all winch base plates, cleats (new), fittings, tangs and spinnaker track were isolated by nylon washers. On the boom, the reefing padeyes were replaced on thicker welded bases.? There is a?Lewmar traveler forward of the dodger, with control lines in the cockpit.? The spinnaker pole is lifted by an Anderson line tender. Main halyard, jib halyard and spinnaker halyard winches are Barient #22 stainless drums. Reefing is by Barient self-tailing #32s, either manually or two-speed electric motor. Barient #10 mizzen halyard and #10 mizzen sheet.? Secondary cockpit Barient # 28, were installed in 2004.? Cockpit seats and cockpit well have teak decking. There is a folding double drop-leaf cockpit table. Boarding from the dinghy or swimming is via a folding teak and chrome ladder.
