Avalon is a delightful example of this popular model; the 41 offers excellent accommodation combined with good sailing performance. She benefits from Webasto heating, Bow thruster (2009), Radar, Cruising chute (2011), TV and Electric anchor windlass to name a few. A must see boat, now available.

B&R Rig

The B&R (Belgstrom & Ridder) rig has numerous benefits and was developed for use on performance 'round the world' race boats. The mast with swept back spreaders allows for a broad 'tripod' base creating an immensely strong rig with greatly reduced stress on the hull. The need for a back-stay is eliminated allowing a longer boom and bigger more efficient mainsail. This in turn makes for effortless sailing with the mainsail generating the majority of the sail power.

Stainless (safety) Arch

Designed to eliminate the possibility of injury from the boom or mainsheet and to provide efficient control of the mainsail via a very short mainsheet. In addition they enhance safety further by providing a strong grab handle and anchor points for all of the crew. Furthermore they act as a superb support for all over cockpit enclosures, canopies and biminis.

Owner's Comments

We have owned Avalon for 7 years and have found her to be extremely comfortable when sailing in many types of conditions from light winds in the Solent to surfacing downwind in a force 8 off the Portuguese coast. The large rear cockpit with the arch has always made this feel a very safe yacht with plenty of space to move around and many places to hold onto, inclusive of the safe points to attach a harness line. With the larger main sail and small head sail, the main is the powerhouse of the yacht and makes it very easy to get going in light winds. For stronger winds we have found by having 3 reefs in the main this added to our ability to sail during these periods and not head for port and enjoy the conditions.

The extensive airy saloon and galley area makes Avalon feel very comfortable when in port to the point whereby its disappointing to leave when leisure time ends and its back to the daily life. This spacious area along with the spacious cockpit was a great advantage when she was in the Ionian for 3 years. Although a different climate in the UK, we still find we can stay for long periods without the need to get back home for comfort. We have had many great adventures on Avalon sailing mostly as a couple or with family and friends and hope the next owner will have the same great experiences as we have.
