Behind the Scenes at the Volvo Ocean Race
Since it began in 1973, the Volvo Ocean Race (formerly the Whitbread Round the World Race) has been documented by some stunning images. In anticipation of the 2014-15 event beginning in October, Volvo Ocean Race have released a video giving an insight into how the race’s aerial photography is organised and captured.
Watch the video below to find out how the remarkable images that tell the Volvo Ocean Race’s story are created.
This year marks the 12th edition of the triennial around the world yacht race. The 2014-15 will also be the first time in the race’s history that all the boats will share one design. The decision for every team to use Farr Yacht Design’s Volvo One-Design yacht was made to increase safety and reduce costs. With that being said, each entry’s participation cost will still amount to around €15 million. The race traditionally begins at a European destination in October with teams competing over 9 or 10 legs.
