Explore the Thames with this handy App - Free until 31 May!
Did you know that the River Thames is the longest river entirely in England? It’s 215 miles long and flows through London, as well as amazing historic places including Oxford, Henley-on-Thames, Hurley (pictured above) and Windsor.
The Thames has always been a great place for boating, fishing, walking and general exploring, and now there’s an app available – developed by the British Marine Federation – that can help you make the most of the river itself and the fascinating surrounding areas.
‘ExploreThames’ is an innovative, interactive iOS App, that’s fully compatible with the iPhone, iPad and iPad mini range of Apple devices on iOS6 or later.
Help for Thames boaters
There’s a real focus on helping people travelling along the Thames in a boat - a really rewarding pastime that has been enjoyed by generations of boating enthusiasts. The App will highlight boating facilities and services along your route, showing BMF-member marinas and boat yards, the services they offer, slipways, short stay moorings and emergency rendezvous points.
There’s also information on river structures, locks and bridges. And of course places to stay, eat and drink as well as all the background info on sites and monuments from historic Runnymede in Surrey to world famous Windsor Castle in Berkshire.
The App is FREE until the 31 May 2014 on all compatible mobile iOS devices, and at just 16MB to download, it won't clog up your phone
If you go boating, fishing, walking or cycling on or along the River Thames this app will be for you!
