Impervious: Affordable Invisible Waterproofing Spray For The iPhone
Although the iPhone reigns supreme in the smartphone world, it was Sony that recently started the trend of making water-resistant phones. Having a water-resistant phone is a money saving plus for all consumers, but it is a godsend to people like us, who love to get out on the water.
Despite a number of waterproof models available on the market, for all other mobile users, our phones cower at the sight of sea and rain. However, a simple and affordable solution is currently seeking financial support on the global crowdfunding platform - Kickstarter. The aptly named product is called Impervious, an easy to apply hydrophobic spray that offers water and scratch resistance to smartphones like the iPhone for up to 3 years, which is longer than the lifespan of most smartphones.
Impervious claims to be able to protect your phone against accidental submersion and the ability to cope under 3ft of water for up to 30 minutes. Made up of molecules 1000x smaller than a human hair, the spray is completely invisible when dry and will not affect your phone’s speakers or microphone. Although other waterproofing solutions are available, they are often expensive and require sending your phone off to be treated. Impervious’ self-application kit currently costs just $29.95, plus $5 for international shipping. Kits are also available for iPads and Android tablet. You can purchase an Impervious waterproofing kit by donating to their Kickstarter campaign here.
