Mission Blue: A Documentary Hoping to Save the World's Oceans
Mission Blue is a new documentary film that sheds light on the dangers that face the world’s oceans, following the esteemed and globally respected oceanographer Dr. Sylvia Earle as she attempts to draw global attention to the issues. The film’s tagline is "No ocean; no life. No ocean; no us."
Dr. Earle’s illustrious career has seen her hold the title of chief scientist for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and also named Time magazine's first "Hero for the Planet”. Over the 4 years in which the documentary was filmed, Dr. Earle has been campaigning to increase the amount of ‘hope spots’ worldwide, places that are legally free from commercial fishing and drilling. The film hopes to not just dwell on the abuse of the world’s oceans but also expose solutions.
Mission Blue is now availble globally on Netflix. Watch the trailer below.
