Santander 2014 ISAF Sailing World Championships Preview
Organised by the International Sailing Federation (ISAF), the Sailing World Championships are held every four years and the Santander 2014 ISAF Olympic World Championships is considered by many to be the most important regatta ahead of Rio 2016 Olympics.
The last few ISAF Sailing World Championships were held in Cadiz, Spain in 2003, Cascais, Portugal in 2007 and Perth, Australia in 2011. This year, Santander on the north coast of Spain will host 1000 entrants from 80 nations, all competing for gold in all 10 Olympic sailing classes.
With only two years to go until the Olympic torch is lit in Rio de Janeiro, Olympic team selectors will see this competition as an opportunity to pick who they want to see represent their nation. Events began on the 8th September and will run until medal day on the 21st.
