Connects anything to everything
One of the surprises of the 2014 METS, the marine tradeshow for professionals in Amsterdam, was the introduction of a new multiplexer by ShipModul. This new MiniPlex-3Wi-N2K transports NMEA 2000, NMEA 0183 and SeaTalk data wirelessly to your iPad, iPhone, laptop or any other WiFi enabled device, just as the previous model did. The new version however adds some features that make it ready for the future in the fast changing world of electronics.
The MiniPlex-3Wi-M2K is an advanced
WiFi NMEA multiplexer, combining data from up to four NMEA 0183 navigation instruments into two NMEA 0183 outputs, a Wifi interface and a USB port. It also supports AIS and other high-speed NMEA devices. Through its NMEA 2000 and SeaTalk interface even more instruments can be added and all conversions work in both ways.
Using the MiniPlex multiplexer has some major advantages. Data from multiple instruments in your on-board network is now available wirelessly though a WiFi connection, giving complete freedom where to navigate on board. It acts as a wireless access point for your iPad, iPhone or other WiFi enabled devices. The internal WiFi access point connects up to four devices simultaneously. A galvanically isolated USB port allows you to connect a laptop.
One of the key-features of the MiniPlex-3Wi-N2K is seamless integration into an existing Raymarine SeaTalk network, NMEA 0183 network or its successor, a NMEA 2000 network. Since the new version can convert NMEA 2000 data into NMEA 0183 and vice versa, the compatibility with different brands of navigation instruments on board is outstanding. It even converts SeaTalk data into NMEA 2000/0183 and vice versa. All ports are galvanically isolated, including the USB port, eliminating ground loops between instruments and computer.
The MiniPlex allows you to fully control the source, the destination and the rate of each individual NMEA 0183 sentence or NMEA 2000 PGN by its powerful sentence filtering and routing facility. Furthermore, it connects directly to a USB port without the typical USB problems. Plug & Play as it is meant to be. The USB port is also used for firmware updates and configuration of specific WiFi settings. Future firmware updates will be available on the ShipModul website.
The MiniPlex-3Wi-N2K has a rich set of features and configuration options, enabling the user to tackle almost any NMEA bottleneck or interface problem. The supplied Windows utility MPX-Config allows full configuration of the multiplexer and monitoring of NMEA data passing through the multiplexer.
The new MiniPlex-3Wi-N2K makes the most out of your existing set of navigation instruments. It gives the opportunity and freedom to navigate on any place in the cabin or on deck, providing safety and comfort. With a small investment, great things can be achieved.
