Sailing Smack 33ft built in Paglesham, Essex, in 1860. Totally rebuilt by her present owner, (only two original frames remain in her (and these were actually replaced in 1940’s). A very attractive example of type with her relatively shallow draft she has proven to have a good turn of speed. Now fitted out with an engine and twin props, passage making is far more dependable. Accommodation below is spartan, sitting headroom only and the most basic of facilities. Stunning traditional sailing using manual labour, real sailing skills and knowledge. It’s great fun racing against her sister ships “around the cans” throughout the season. Surveyed on completion in 2006, all very favorable. She is annually put back into commission and is out sailing again for the season.
