Remarks :
Classic motor yacht built by James Silver Ltd in 1958. This is a stunning example of the highly desirable Ormidale class and was built in Rosneath to a James Bain design. The hull is mahogany planking on oak frames and the hull topsides are a combination of teak and mahogany. The wheelhouse its self is built using mahogany faced ply on Iroko frames.
The yacht has seen extensive renovation over the last 5 years with repaint to hull, renovation of wheelhouse, new batteries and instruments, re-upholstery, carpets and galley equipment. even the ballast has been removed, cleaned, bilges painted and ballast re-stacked.
The engines are Thornycroft 2.5lt diesels rated 60hp per side. This will give comfortable cruising of 6 knots. Maximum hull design speed is 8 knots but boat travels more comfortably and economically at the 6 knots.
Vessel can sleep 6 if required but more comfortable with 4 persons. She has been sailed extensively on the West coast of Scotland and the islands.
If you are looking for a comfortable, "Classic" motor yacht without the hardship of renovation then look no further. This well maintained and much loved craft is ready to go.
Vessel currently ashore for the Winter.
Accommodation :
Below decks is spacious and well thought out. Wheelhouse is entered from the starboard walkway via a half sized sliding door. The wheelhouse is glazed on all sides allowing great all round visibility. Seating area to port with dining/chart table with drop leaves. Single helm seat can pivot and there are two occasional stools to make seating for 6 persons. Going forward there is a set of steps leading down to the galley. This has been refitted with new worktops and storage cupboards. The gas fuelled oven is also a recent purchase and has two burners and grill. On starboard side is the large sink with drainer. Pressurised hot and hold water at galley and heads. Three pin plugs for use on shore power or generator.
Forward of galley is the main saloon with seating port and starboard. This comfortable area converts to a 4-bunk cabin by utilising the backrests. There is 12V lighting throughout and a large opening hatch for light and ventilation. Excellent storage with mahogany cabinet work. Forward of this are and behind the forward bulkhead is a shelved storage room with generator storage and spares for engine.
Returning to the wheelhouse and moving aft is the large heads compartment. This has a Blakes Baby ceramic marine toilet and a ceramic sink with hot and cold faucets.
Immediately aft is a spacious two berth cabin. The cot berths have upholstered matrasses and below bunk storage. Large dressing table with drawer storage and large full length hanging locker. Again this area features 12V reading and deck lighting and opening hatches for light and ventilation.
All ports have curtains for privacy. The boat is kept warm and dry thanks to the diesel fired Webasto heating.
The engines are rated at 60hp per side and will tick along all day at 1500rpm. This will give a comfortable 6 knots and burn a frugal 3 gallons per hour.
Helm position with engine instrumentation including rev counters, oil pressure, water temperature and charging. There is also an exhaust alarm fitted.
The boat has seen extensive rewiring and a new 12V panel has been added. There are 4x12V batteries. Two for engine start and two leisure batteries.
