Since then, more than 100 of these boats have been built and several have undertaken notable offshore cruises. … Compared to other boats in this size and price range (the Tartan 40, Nordic 40, Bermuda 40 and Bristol 41) the J40 is notable for its simplicity, speed, and, ease of handling. J Boats are rarely the least expensive of their class. Yet, they almost always represent good value for the money and consistent value over time." “Blue Jay” was built in 87 and had a major refit when the present owner bought her in 2006. Over 60.000 $ were invested in parts alone plus aprox. 1650 work hours done in preparation for the bluewater trip she is doing at present. Among other works the complete interior was removed, re-varnished and re-installed. All wiring was removed and renewed, same as the plumbing. A new engine was fitted. And an extensive list of new equipment fitted. The only item missing to a full refit is the re-spraying of the hull which is due to come soon. She is in excellent shape at present and equipped to go for any kind of serious blue water trip. Aber das Preis Leistungs Verhältnis und die Wertstabilität sind in der Regel sehr gut. „Blue Jay“ wurde 1987 gebaut. 2006 übernahm sie der gegenwärtige Eigentümer und überholte sie von Grund auf, bevor er zum gegenwärtigen Blauwassertön startete. Unter anderem wurde der gesamte Innenausbau entfernt, alle Holzteile überholt und neu lackiert oder geölt und wieder eingebaut. Alle elektrischen und anderen Leitungen wurden entfernt und durch neue ersetzt. Eine neue Maschine wurde eingebaut. Und eine lange Liste mit neuen Ausrüstungsteilen und Ersatzteilen wurde installiert. Das Einzige was, das zu einem kompletten Refit noch fehlt, ist eine Neulackierung des Rumpfes, die demnächst vorgenommen werden wird.
