The following info was written in a Word-document, unfortunality the lay-out got somewhat disturbed on this site. Enigma of Wight General: Enigma of Wight is a Wauquiez Centurion 40, built in 1988, hull number 23. She is an Ed Dubois design, currently sailing under a Dutch flag. Tax has been paid (proof is available). Enigma of Wight is a sportive sailing vessel, made by Wauquiez in a time when Wauquiez made quality vessels. And indeed, the saying Buy quality, then you only groan once has definitely been proven the last years when Enigma of Wight circumnavigated, sailing a total distance of more then 53.000 miles. And has anybody ever heart of a Wauquiez where the keel / rudder fell of ? Some figures: length: 12,07 meters. wide: 4,09 meters, depth: 1,60 meters. Two cabins. Standing hight is 1,90 / 1,95 meters, so also comfortable for tall people. But never installed after refurbishing. Needs to be mounted + filled with gas/oil. - Stove: 2-burner with oven-compartment. - Gas-alarm. The alarm only gives a red light, no acoustical warning. - Gas: hoses replaced (2008). - Three gasbottles with American connections, which can be filled almost everywhere around the world. Two bottles (4 kg) are made out of steel, one bottle is made out of aluminum in 2002 (1,8 kg). Hull / Teakdeck / Rudder / Keel / Rig / Winches / Hatches: Hull: has not been sprayed, will still shine after polishing. Teak deck: - Is in good condition and still about 9 mm thick. But as it is a natural product some planks are thinner. All the screws have been removed and 99% of the props have been replaced (2006), also part of the rubber has been replaced (Sikaflex). Rudder: The rudder bearings have been replaced in 2004. Keel: lead, Scheel-design (kind of a bulb). Rigging: - Mast & Boom: Selden/Kemp - RollerFurling: ProFurl ProEngin P40 (bearing has been replaced in 2003) - There is a kind of a cutter-stay, where it is possible to host a stormjib. - Several pieces of rigging have been replaced preventive or when necessary: running backstays, terminal backstay, baby-stay, forestay (2007). - The tension on the backstay is controlled with a hydraulic backstay adjuster (Navtec). Winches: Lewmar selftailing, totally 8, diameters vary from 30–55. They all have a cover. Hatches: Totally 6 Goiot on top-side of the hull. Fronthatch has bars, so can left open while not on board. All the hatches have sun-covers. Safety: - Liferaft: Plastimo Coastel 4-6 persons (1993, checked in September 2006, needs to be rechecked in 2009). - Parachute: an American Army parachute is on board to be used in severe weatherconditions. Sails: - Genoa: Lee Sails 115 %, 48 square meter, 8,6 oz (2004). - Main: Lee Sails, 37.4 square meter, 8,6 oz (2007) - Stormjib - Genacker - Also available: Rocon Genoa protector. This is used to protect the Genoa when this is not in use for longer periods. Tanks: - Fuel: 1 stainless steel 140 liters. - Water: 1 stainless steel 170 liters. 1 Vetus plastic tank 100 liters. So total about 270 liters. - Holding tank: Vetus plastic tank. Various: - Tricolor in masthead is a LED-light (50 leds). - Two small bikes are on board. - Passerela with hardwood planks. - A new cockpit table and door have been made out of solid mahogany (2008). - The door is locked with a Stazo Cabin-lock, lock has been replaced (2008). - Fire extinguisher. - An extra porthole has been put in the hull on the starboard side for extra light/view (2008). - The fabric on the cushions in the saloon has been replaced in 2006. Windvane: Windpilot Pacific (2002). Ongoing projects: - The inside needs some varnishing, although at this moment the kitchen/entrance are being varnished. - The rudder could use some fairing. - Although some running rigging (ropes) have been replaced in 2008, there are still a few that need replacement. - Some small fiberglass repairs need to be done. - Above the waterline are two small areas with air voids which needs to be treated and sprayed. As long as Enigma of Wight has not been sold I reserve the right to sell certain items which are not fixed to the boat. This applies especially to the bikes and to the watermaker.
