Description:
SHIRIS is a lovely A R Luke-designed sloop, which was built to excellent standards by Luke Brothers in Hamble, England, in 1937. She has benefited from knowledgeable and particularly conscientious ownership since the late 1970s and has been upgraded to very high standards. From her classic looks to her tastefully finished and updated interior, SHIRIS is truly an exceptional yacht and worthy of our highest recommendation. We shall be happy to arrange inspections.
Accommodation:
Sleeps up to 8. Headroom: 6ft 1in to 7ft 10in. Access below is via the doghouse and down a beautifully built, curved white-oak companionway with signal-flag stowage. The forepeak is right forward with a V-berth cabin next aft. The full-width head is next aft with an Italian marble vanity and sink with storage outboard and below to port and a Blake WC opposite. The tastefully finished main cabin is next aft with a dresser port and starboard with leaded-glass front lockers outboard and drop-leaf oak table with removable fiddles between settees port and starboard, which convert to over and under berths. A Luke 24in brass-and-soapstone solid-fuel fireplace is fitted forward to port with a brass stovepipe backed by tile. The galley is next aft port and starboard with stainless countertop and double sinks to starboard with Dutch tile outboard and raised-panel front stowage above and below. General Equipment:
1981 Westerbeke 58-hp 4-cylinder fresh-water-cooled diesel, (rebuilt in 1992). Hurth 2:1 reduction gear, new 1994, to 1 1/4in bronze shaft and 18in two-blade max prop. Spare 18inx 12in three-blade bronze propeller.Cruises at 7 knots at 2,000 rpm.
