.1 of the more beautiful fireplaces of this length.

Neither money nor effort was spared by the 3rd owner to bring and keep the ship in top condition. The Horus goes out of the water every winter. In the past 15 years many things have been renewed such as new swords, floor, electricity, rudder, propeller shaft, intermediate bearing, etc. Bills to prove it are available.

There used to be an old butcher's yard of Janus Kok in Huizen. When in the fifties there was a switch from wood to steel, there was a demand for new steel fireplaces. In 1959, Jan's son drew a nine metre chimney and a day after an advertisement in a water sports magazine, two of them had already been sold. Between 1960 and '70 no less than sixty fireplaces were built. They were available in lengths of eight, nine and ten metres. Cook fireplaces were fast, especially in competitions. According to Kok this was also because they made very good swords and aligned the sword clamps very precisely. After a fire on the shipyard in 1967 it ended with the new building. Moreover, there was a big competition in the new building of fireplaces.

But there was still a demand for Kok fireplaces and Mr. Mulder from the shipyard Vos and Mulder in Weesp got the rights of Kok to build the fireplaces according to his design. In his company in Weesp about eight more ships were built and then the production was, by necessity, stopped. It was quiet for a few years around the new building until at the end of 1992 there was another advertisement in the Spiegel der Zeilvaart of a new shipyard in Lelystad with the name Kok Zeeschouw! At the Vaartweg 58E on the industrial area "Noordersluis" a new shed was built, where hulls can be built quickly and efficiently.

De Zeeschouw 'Horus' was one of the first to be built in Lelystad in 1992. J. Heyer from Archen was the client, who gave the Zeeschouw the name 'Leeuwendeiner' when it was launched.
