The contracting company Jorritsma BV in Bolsward started in 1974 with a yacht building department under the name "De Nieuwe Kielkade". He came up with this idea because they had two excellent shipbuilders in house, who, however, only practised this craft as a hobby in their spare time, namely Messrs. Tjibbe Brinksma (49 already working for Jorritsma for years) and 40-year-old Joop Idsinga as a driver. They have each already built several yachts. The construction of Lemsteraken of 10 or 11 meters became their specialty. Between 1976 and 1979 a number of Schokkers of more than 10 metres were built to a design of their own by Tj. Brinksma.
