"Silver Bird" is a beautiful example of the famous Silver Leaf Motor Cruisers designed by John Bain and built by James Silver at the yard that bore his name in Rosneath, Scotland in 1938. She was built in larch on oak with a GRP-sheathed teak deck on wooden deck beams and a wooden superstructure. The "Bird" has been much upgraded, maintained and restored over the years so that all the "heavy lifting" has been done. Most recently (2013) Mylor Yacht Harbour stripped her hull back to bare wood on the outside above and below the waterline. All woodwork inspected and any sort planking replaced or repaired, seems were re-filled with leaded putty and she was completely repainted. New bilge keels and a mizen mast (as in her original design) were added in 2015 to improve stability.

The "Bird" is a stunning and genuinely historical craft but also a practical and usable motor vessel thanks to the design and skill she was built with and the efforts of her current owners. A viewing is highly recommended.
